Asus: Nexus 7 audio dock coming, but don't expect a Transformer-like keyboard
Asus has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it will he launching a dedicated audio dock for its new Jelly Bean Android tablet the Nexus 7 later in the year.
The new accessory will allow users of the tablet to enjoy music from the device, and charge it at the same time.
What we do know is that it will be black and almost look part of the device. The Nexus 7 will sit in the dock horizontally, making it ideal for watching movies.
Although details on the new accessory are few and far between at the moment, a spokesman for the company has confirmed it will be launching the music add-on later in the summer. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
The audio dock will connect via the four docking connectors on the side of the Nexus 7.
Those hoping for a docking keyboard, as found on the company's Transformer range of tablets, should expect to be disappointed however. Asus has told Pocket-lint there were no plans for one telling us that the device needs to be 10-inches or more for it to work effectively.
Those who do want to accessorise their new tablet in the meantime will have to opt for the official case. Looking like the new Smart Case from Apple for the iPad, these will encase the Nexus 7 and offer front and rear protection. It won't, however, double up as a stand in the same way.
