BT Openzone is dead, long live BT Wi-Fi. That's the new message coming from BT after a move to rebrand the service to make it easier to understand.
"BT Wi-fi brings together BT Openzone, our great-value wireless broadband internet access, and BT Fon, the world’s largest Wi-Fi community," says the company.
BT says the move will also make it easier for customers to get online at more than 4 million hotspots when they are out and about. With such a big network, however, the company warns that it will take some time for the new name to take effect.
"Please bear with us as we gradually update our product names and the network name at our hotspots to BT Wi-fi from BT Openzone or BT Fon. In the meantime, you can get online using any of these network names," BT adds.
BT Wi-Fi is free when you buy any BT broadband package. Non-BT customers can still use the service, but will have to pay for access.
