In a strange twist of fate (and almost certainly a slow news day) there were two types of aerial photos making the headlines in the UK yesterday.
The first was the extraordinary galleries found at britainfromabove.org.uk, a newly published collection of vintage shots of our green and pleasant land, taken from above.
Some of our most famous landmarks are here to see as you’re not likely to have seen them before.
And at this site, they’re also asking for help. Not all of these photos have been identified – they simply don’t know where some of them were taken. So log on and take a look. You could make your mark on photographic history by helping out the curators of this fascinating collection.
The other type of aerial shot was the type that shows Danny Boyle’s Olympic opening ceremony taking shape. But we really don’t want to talk about those…
