LG takes on Siri and S Voice with own Quick Voice

LG has joined Apple and Samsung by unveiling its own voice technology. Quick Voice will enable LG users to open up various apps within the smartphone using voice recognition.

Quick Voice will initially be rolled out in Korea as an update, first appearing on the LG Optimus Vu at the end of June, before arriving on the LG Optimus LTE II in July.

Assuming the service proves a success, we can expect Quick Voice to begin arriving on other LG smartphones in wider markets including the UK.

LG says that initially Quick Voice will be able to be used with 11 different applications, including phone calls, address books and the calendar.

As with Apple’s Siri and Samsung’s S Voice (as seen on the Samsung Galaxy S III) Quick Voice can also be used to search maps, weather updates and the web. Users will also be able to dictate messages to their phone before sending them as an email or text message.
