Hands-on: Knomo MacBook Air Envelope review

You love your MacBook Air, we can tell, and that’s why you want to protect it from the usual scratches and bruises any laptop can pick up when you travel.

There are so many lovely cases available for the Apple laptop, but most are aimed at portraying you as a hip hipster coming in an array of bright colours and materials to show your youthful side. But what happens if you don’t want to be “down with the kids”?

The Knomo (pronounced no-mo, if you were wondering) MacBook Air Envelope is available for both the 11- and 13-inch models and made from real leather - allowing you to exude a more serious, traditional look.

Inside, your laptop is protected by a very soft velvet lining keeping everything snug.

It is custom made to fit the thin Apple laptop and surprisingly doesn’t add much bulk, even though it is padded for extra protection in case you drop it. The exterior flap closure with snap-lock means your laptop won’t fall out either.

Beyond the actual case, we especially like Knomo’s recovery service. Register the number in the case on the company’s website and if you lose it, the finder can notify Knomo so it can arrange collection and delivery back to you. It’s a nice touch, but does rely on someone being kind enough to contact Knomo in the first place rather than wanting to keep the envelope for themselves.

At £65 this isn’t the cheapest of ways to protect your MacBook Air, but for something that looks so good, and feels so nice, the Knomo bag is well made enough to not only last, but also impress those around you at the same too, making it well worth the investment.
