Running enthusiasts can now choose from four additional Nike+ Sportwatches that will monitor your fitness levels, tracks distances covered and even measure your performance against other athletes.

Nike and TomTom have unveiled four new colours - black and anthracite, volt, anthracite and volt, and an anthracite and blue glow variant.

The last is geared towards the running beginner and, as it has no shoe sensor,  is only suitable for outdoor running (though one can be bought separately). However, it is available for the slightly cheaper £129, whereas the others cost £149.

Yet whether entry level, old or new, all Nike+ Sportwatches can use NikeFuel. By measuring the distance covered in your runs, NikeFuel will convert it into a standard currency that in turn can be compared to the achievements of other athletes from other sports.

For example, run 10 miles and you’ll be able to see how your fitness levels compare to that of, say, a basketball player who has covered the same ground.

But here’s the slightly disappointing aspect - at present the Nike+ Sportwatch can only be used in conjunction with NikeFuel when running. To use the service in other sports, you’ll need to invest in a Nike+ FuelBand.

All your sporting achievements can be logged and viewed at the new www.nikeplus.com website.

Nike+ Sportwatches are available from www.nike.com and www.tomtom.com as well as other selected retailers.
