All eyes are on Nintendo at this year's E3 in Los Angeles. And Nintendo big boss Shigeru Miyamoto hasn't disappointed, announcing the latest Pikmin title for the forthcoming Wii U.

Miyamoto comically places augmented reality pikmin characters among the audience, kicking off his show in his usual fun style.

Pikmin III updates the classic title with more detailed graphics; the ant-like pikmin characters can carry building materials.

Shigeru also introduced a new "rock pikmin" that can be thrown at walls and objects to break down barriers.

The Wii U touchscreen allows you to control the pikmin and map simultaneously, plus it's now possible to control up to four lead pikmin characters.
