Apple rumours point to new 13.3-inch laptop in January

Rumoured to be buying parts for rumoured new model

Apple has supposedly placed an order for 13.3-inch LED notebook backlight units for an upcoming Apple laptop, if Taiwanese website Digitimes is to be believed.

According to the news site, Apple has placed an order with Kenmos Technology and Taiwan Nano Electro-Optical Technology, who have seen shipments in November go from 10,000 units to over 90,000 units in December, thanks to the rumoured Apple requirement.

Kenmos is also said to be shipping LED notebook BLUs to Apple for "high-end models" according to Digitimes.

The rumour is no doubt likely to be fuelled by persistent speculation of an ultra-portable laptop from the Cupertino company and the announcement that Steve Jobs has confirmed that he will be opening Macworld in January next year.
