Sega serves up Virtua Tennis Challenge on the iPad and iPhone

With Wimbledon just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start practising that backhand volley of yours. Virtually speaking, of course.

Sega’s gaming classic Virtua Tennis Challenge has arrived on Apple’s iTunes and can be downloaded to the iPad, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s for £2.99. Not bad when you consider how much it used to cost to play as an arcade machine.

It’s the first time the tennis game franchise has been available on the mobile platform but follows the same format, as you look to build your tennis career by acing, slicing and lobbying opponents around the world.

Players can participate in both singles and doubles tournaments, competing on grass, clay, hard and even indoor courts. Connect to another device via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth also enables you to play your friends online.

There are a total of 50 opponents to beat and 18 stadiums around the world to in which to compete.

Virtua Tennis Challenge is available to download now from iTunes.
