EU launches MobGAS app for your mobile phone

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has launched a mobile phone application that helps users to track their carbon footprint.

MobGAS lets users see the implications of the choices they make every day in relation to the three major greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.

Everyday activities, and their implications on the environment can be calculated using the app, such as cooking, transport, lighting and the use of electronic appliances.

MobGAS generates info on daily, weekly and yearly emissions which can be registered on a website, allowing users to compare their results with national and global averages.
