HTC is set to introduce an Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone into the entry-level market.

Currently codenamed the HTC Golf, the phone is expected to be renamed the HTC Wildfire C and will be arriving before the end of the summer.

Sporting a 3.5-inch, 480 x 320 pixel display, the handset will also feature HTC’s own Sense 4.0 skin.

Running on a single-core processor, the phone won’t pack the same oomph as any of the HTC One Series phones – One X, One S and One V – but then it will be available much cheaper.

The 4GB of on-board storage is another reminder of the Golf’s entry-level credentials, though HTC is said to be offering two years of free 25GB Dropbox cloud storage to compensate.

As well as a five-megapixel camera, found on the back of the phone, there’s also said to be a front-facing snapper, meaning video calls - though it's difficult to verify from the leaked image.

HTC has declined to confirm or deny the Golf’s UK arrival, but as we’ve seen both the Wildfire S and original Wildfire hit these shores we’re fairly confident we’ll be seeing it soon.
