Sony's PlayStation 3 outsold Nintendo's Wii game console in Japan in November for the first time, reports Reuters.Despite only being a short-term trend at this time, the news, massively significant for Sony who has struggled with the Wii's strong dominance in its home market, has promoted speculation that Sony could regain its position at the top of the global videogame market.
Sony sold 183,217 PS3 units in Japan in the four weeks to November 25, beating sales of 159,193 Wii consoles, according to Enterbrain figures.
The increase in sales is being attributed to the price cut the PS3 recently received, as well as the availability odf a cheaper 40GB model.
But the battle is far from over for the Wii, Nintendo is launching the "Wii Fit" home fitness game in Japan on Saturday which is predicted to be a huge hit for the motion-sensing console.
