Dell is no longer selling smartphones in the US, as the company re-evaluates its position in the market. Reports say the manufacturer plans to turn its attention to more emerging markets and products that bring in more capital. We interpret that as being laptops and desktop computers.
It’s uncertain as to whether Dell will return to the smartphone game in the US. However it will continue to sell the likes of the Dell Venue Pro and Dell Streak in other parts of the world, at least for the time being. Having lost ground on the likes of Apple, Samsung and even LG, this decision by Dell is perhaps not only unsurprising but may even prove a good business strategy in the long run.
Perhaps it’s a case of taking stock and reassessing things before the launch of Windows 8 later this year – having had close ties to Microsoft over the years.
