Russian reviewer raves over redubbed The Iron Lady pirate copy

A redubbed pirate version of The Iron Lady is making its rounds in Russia at present, and has had at least one rave review. However, the Russian-language translation, entirely voiced by one man, changes much of the script, and depicts Margaret Thatcher as a "bloodthirsty, Hitler-admiring leader".

Of course, this sort of thing has happened many times before, but rarely has a top movie critic been so ably fooled in the past. Russian newspaper Kommersant even went as far as to quote some of the changed parts of the pirated film in its glowing review.

The translated version of the Oscar-winning film has Conservative advisors calling Thatcher "a heartless bitch" in its reworked script. She is also heard to say the words: "Crush the working class, crush the scum, the yobs" - albeit in rough male Russian accent.

Maybe they'll put this version of the movie on the DVD and Blu-ray as an bonus feature. Or perhaps not...

The Iron Lady (in English) will be out on Blu-ray and DVD from 30 April.
