If you were thinking of getting a new iPad and sitting back and waiting for it to appear in the post, we've got some bad news.

Demand is so high for the new iPad announced on Wednesday, that Apple has already sold out of launch day iPads for online orders, according to its website in the UK, and the US.

In the UK, all models of the new iPad are listed on Apple.com/uk as "dispatched in 2-3 weeks" meaning that while stock is still coming, if you want it on the 16 March you are going to have to physically queue at an Apple store or somewhere else on the high street.

In the US launch day stock has also sold out online, however the wait for more stock isn't as bad. Customers in the US who pre-order the new iPad will get it on the 19 March, three days after the 16 March launch day.

Analysts warned even before the announcement of the new Apple tablet that stock would be in short supply and it looks like demand is already proving them right.
