Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming to Toshiba AT200 tablets at some point in 2012, Pocket-lint has learnt. However, the company can't yet give a release date for the software update.

"We don’t have a date for Ice Cream Sandwich at present, but we are investigating it and will communicate that as and when," Pocket-lint was told by Paul Hicks, the product manager at Toshiba UK in charge of the tablet range (among other things).

The AT200 currently features Android 3.2 and was released as a Carphone Warehouse exclusive in February. It's "selling very well", we were told, and Toshiba is proud to boast that it's the thinnest and lightest 10.1-inch tablet on the market.

But we have also been informed that there are no plans to supply the device to any other retailers. It will remain an exclusive to Carphone Warehouse.

"The AT200 is exclusive in Carphone Warehouse in the UK right now. And I anticipate that the volume will continue to go into Carphone Warehouse," said Hicks.

Toshiba does plan to release more tablet devices in 2012 though, in a variety of screen sizes, and is even looking at different operating systems, as we've formerly exclusively revealed. We expect those to be sold by more outlets.
