Vimeo takes on iMovie with new Apple app

Vimeo for iPhone and iPad is the latest app on the block to offer video editing, letting on-the-go you craft the perfect video before uploading it to the video-sharing website, wherever you are.

The new updated app features a built-in video editor that enables users to create and upload videos from their phone, tablet, or MP3 player. In a move to stop music piracy, Vimeo has also included its Vimeo Music Store, which makes it easy to add a soundtrack to a video without the fear of the lawyers shutting you down.

The new Vimeo iOS app is available for download free from the iTunes App Store and is compatible with iOS 4.3 touting iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch models.

It isn't just about editing on the go, though - the new app also adds a new "discovery-focused" experience Vimeo tells us.

Users will be able to browse other videos while playing videos, “like” videos, access their Feed, add videos to their Watch Later queue, comment on videos, and of course, browse and watch all the videos on Vimeo. Natch.

What more could you want?
