BBC iPlayer app for Android updated, 3G streaming enabled

The BBC has confirmed that an update to its BBC iPlayer app for Android is now available. The news was announced by the BBC via Twitter.

The new update brings 3G streaming, so you'll be able watch EastEnders no matter where you are, not just when sitting at home on Wi-Fi. The previous BBC iPlayer app hasn't been updated since June 2011.

The BBC tweet also says there is an "updated player" and the details in the app clarifies this as an update to the Flash Player.

Otherwise, the BBC iPlayer app appears to be identical to the previous version. You can download the new version from Android Market now and get yourself watching Doctor Who on the bus.

Just watch your data allowance, okay?
