Adobe has released an iPad version of its cut-down, but no less impressive version of Photoshop for tablet devices. We reviewed the Android application back in December and loved it, now Apple device owners can see what all the fuss is about.
Available for the iPad 2 running iOS 5 only (sorry, original iPad owners), Adobe Photoshop Touch is a feature-rich photo-editing app that offers many of the same tools PC and Mac Photoshop users will know and love.
Layers are supported, as are many editing features, and there's a handy new Scribble Selection Tool that allows the user to select and extract objects simply by scribbling on them using the touch screen. It combines with Refine Edge technology from Photoshop to choose the subject matter accurately even when there are soft edges. And Facebook and Google Image Search functionality help find and share images alike.
Not only has David Wadhwani, Adobe's senior vice-president and general manager, Digital Media Business Unit, got a lengthy job title, but he's keen to emphasise that this latest application is very nearly a true PS experience. "Photoshop Touch combines the magic of Photoshop and its core features with the convenience of a tablet, bringing image-editing power to the fingertips of millions of people," he says.
More apps in the Adobe Touch range, including Adobe Collage, Adobe Debut, Adobe Ideas, Adobe Kuler and Adobe Proto will be coming to the iPad this year.
Adobe Photoshop Touch for iPad 2 is available now on the iTunes App Store for £6.99.
