The new Nike+ range of footwear, which hooks up to your iPhone in order to display performance ratings and statistics, will be on sale 29 June. Comprised of three stykes, Nike Hyperdunk+, Nike Lunar Hyperworkout+ and Nike Lunar TR 1+, the shoes fit into two distinct ranges: Basketball and Training.

In the sole of each shoe, there are pressure sensors that wirelessly feed information to one of two iPhone apps, depending on the sport in question. They then convert the information into easy to understand statistics, which can be viewed against previous performances - and even posted on Facebook or Twitter in order to compare results with friends.

The Basketball app also has motivational pep talks from Nike+ coaches, and a "Showcase" mode that allows you to superimpose live statistical information over video of you in action.

"I think Nike+ Basketball will change the game," said basketball superstar and part-owner of Liverpool Football Club LeBron James. "Giving every player access to this level of information will have a huge impact on the way players train and play the game."

The Training application has its own unique features too, including daily programs that can be created based on your training abilities. There's also a digital community to share each day's workouts and challenges with.

At present the shoes only work with iOS (iPhone and iPod touch), and there's no indication from Nike at this moment of Android versions of the applications. All of the compatible footwear falls under the Lunarlon collection, which combines Nike Flywire technology with a sports-specific NIKE Lunarlon cushioning system as well as the pressure sensors.

The Nike Lunar Hyperworkout+ shoes are for women, while men are served by the Nike Lunar TR 1+.

Prices are yet to be revealed.
