Asus has confirmed via its Facebook page that owners of its original hybrid tablet, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, are in line for some Ice Cream Sandwich action.
Launched as a Honeycomb device in May 2011, the Transformer earned the coveted Pocket-lint Hot Product tag after scoring an impressive 9/10 in our comprehensive review.
It has since been succeeded by the ICS-packing Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, but owners of the original need not be too jealous about the sequel's Android 4.0 action because it's coming their way soon.
Asus has stated that "the first wave of FOTA updates for TF101 firmware v.22.214.171.124 started today in Taiwan" and that "the update will FOTA in other regions soon after". The Facebook memo also teased at some new tech from the Taiwanese company coming soon, saying:
"Although we will announce several new innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, we take great pride in delivering on-going enhancements and support for products that are well into their life cycle."
Pocket-lint will be all over MWC like a rash, so expect all the Asus updates to appear on the site in the coming days.
