UK iPhone owners reporting coverage issues

O2 users struggling to get signal

What appears to be a small minority of UK iPhone owners are reporting some serious issues with signal problems.

It seems those running the iPhone on the official O2 network are struggling to get coverage, despite experiencing no similar problems in the same areas with other handsets.

These issues are being discussed on Apple's support forums, an excerpt from one user (typo-corrected) seems to sum up the problem:

"My iPhone can barely pick up even the slightest signal, although on occasion can pick up three bars, only for it to drop out again. I have two other 02 phones, a Sony Ericsson and a Nokia N95 with no reception problems at all."

Some users have suggested that the problem has been resolved by doing a full iPhone software restore through iTunes.

O2 is referring all enquiries to Apple, but Apple has yet to comment or confirm the problem officially.
