Logitech Cube: PC mouse goes square

Logitech has made the humble mouse square for 2012 as it looks to re-imagine that lump of plastic that sits next to your computer.

Called the Logitech Cube, the new accessory supposedly "offers everything you want in a mouse, and effortlessly becomes a presenter when you need it."

When used as a mouse, the Logitech Cube scrolls when you swipe your finger along the main panel giving you a similar experience to your touchscreen smartphone, says the company that has been making mice and keyboards for decades.

To use the Logitech Cube as a presenter, Logitech says that all you need to do is lift it in the air and moments later it’s in presenter mode.

That means you can simply click the top of the mouse to advance to the next slide in your powerpoint presentation, and if you need to go back simply turn the mouse over in your hand and click again.

The Logitech Cube is expected to be available in the US and Europe at the beginning of January 2012. It will be available online only at www.logitech.com for a suggested retail price of £59.99.

It will be available in both black and white.
