The Last of Us trailer: A glimpse at Naughty Dog's next PS3 hit (video)

Naughty Dog, the developer of the Uncharted series of games for the PlayStation 3, is to turn its hand to survival horror with upcoming title The Last of Us. And here is the tantalising trailer.

Similar to the plots of I Am Legend and 28 Days Later (or Garth Ennis' comic book series Crossed), mankind has been ravaged by a plague that has turned some of the population into super fast, super deadly creatures, while the rest are killing each other for food, weapons and whathaveyou.

The plot of The Last of Us centres of the characters Joel and Ellie, who join forces in order to survive a long, arduous trek across what is left of the USA, with plenty of shocks and scares along the way.

Even just from the short trailer, it is clear that the game will feature the same top notch graphical flair as Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, and we're pretty sure that, considering the developer's pedigree, the story will be as immersive as they come.

Like the Uncharteds, The Last of Us will be a PS3 exclusive, although there's no indication as yet on a release date, or even if it will be available in 2012.

Pocket-lint will let you know when further details emerge...
