Apple has unveiled its traditional review of the year with iTunes Rewind 2011 going live. The big winner is Adele who picked up the gongs for the number one selling album on iTunes for the year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for Someone Like You.

The London based pop queen said: "I'm thrilled to top the iTunes album chart of 2011 and to be iTunes Artist of the Year is just amazing." Her accountant agreed we're guessing.

There's about a bagillion categories in the iTunes Rewind charts (Best Finance App of the Year, Best Mystery TV Show of the year and so on) and the lists are a mix of charts based on sales and editorial lists chosen by the Cupertino Collective.

Notable winners (well, notable to us at least) include Instagram as iPhone App of the Year and Tiny Wings as iPhone Game of the Year - two Pocket-lint favourites - djay scooping the best iPad app gong and, another Pocket-lint love, Contre Jour nabbing the Apple tab's Game of the Year title.

You can see the full list of winners and the best selling apps of 2011 by firing up iTunes on your Mac or PC. There's also a section on the iPhone and iPad versions too.
