HTC has announced when and what handsets in its device lineup will be getting Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates. The good news is that it is the majority of flagship HTC phones, the bad, that they wont be coming until 'early 2012'.
HTC pushed the info out via its Facebook page, listing the entire Sensation lineup, including the XL and XE as getting the update, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G.
It doesn't sound like this is the last we will hear from HTC on ICS, a note on its Facebook page explaining they are continuing to look at ways of pushing the OS update out to other devices in its product portfolio.
Those who want to get their hands on Ice Cream Sandwich before anyone else will have to opt for the recently announced Galaxy Nexus, the latest Android powered handset for Google built by Samsung. The Galaxy Nexus is due to arrive on 17 November.
Ice Cream Sandwich brings with it a substantial update to Google's Android operating system. This means a UI revamp, new text font, plentiful new features and a much smoother and slicker mobile experience. Too many changes to list here but for those interested, why not take a look at our first look at the new operating system.
Knowing that HTC plans to support its flagship handsets with updates is no surprise, we just wonder what the ICS update schedule will look like for those who picked up a phone prior to the Sensation set of devices was released.
