Motorola to bring online radio to a phone near you

17 April 2005 14:19 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Motorola is planning the launch of a new service called iRadio that will let users download audio content from a PC to their mobile phones and then listen to it on their car stereos.

The service, which is due for launch next week will work using Bluetooth to transfer the content from device to device and won't be streaming media but rather pre downloaded content.

According to Motorola: “the iRadio will provide Internet broadcasters with the ability to extend their services to the places where people listen to and enjoy music the most, such as in the car or while jogging.”

Details are still to be confirmed, however it is expected that the service will be subscription based.

We will keep you posted.
