APP OF THE DAY: Cars and Guns 3D review (Android & iOS)

You're sick of Angry Birds, you've cut the rope more times than you've had hot dinners and if you flick and kick more time, you're going to throw up. Never fear, your new piece of mobile fun has arrived in the form of today's App of the Day on Pocket-lint which, fortunately, runs on both iOS and Android.

It's not perfect and it's not that long a game either but it'll certainly keep the wolf from the door before you find your next battery burner.

Cars and Guns 3D does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, minus the 3D part. It's a cardboard cut-out, PaRappa the Rapper-look, road rage racer where you can buy and sell vehicles as you complete different types of missions and buy tune-ups along the way. Get a little bit further into the adventure and one of those optional extras you can pick up turns out to be guns.

The cars obviously handle very differently from one another, with a more expensive model not necessarily guaranteed to bring you better results, but it's probably the on-screen touch controls that unintentionally add a little extra to make it hard. You might find yourself cursing them occasionally but not so much that it's not worth playing the game. It does get a little taxing when the additional dimension of shooting your gun is thrown in.

The lack of polish doesn't take anything away from this title though, and there's nice touches like that the tune-ups work universally across the cars, so you don't have to worry about wasting your cash. Possibly not the easiest app to use on the back of the bus but certainly well worth your 69p.
