It may not pack quite the punch of the Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker but at a fraction of the cost, the Logitech Mini Boombox may be the answer for more financially-challenged smartphone owners wanting a bit more sound from their digital media.
The mini speaker, which has just been announced by the Swiss company, works with Bluetooth HFP or A2DP technology, so should hook up to your smartphone, tablet or even PC with nae bother.
It's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand apparently, so is really designed not as a living room or bedroom speaker, but more as a speaker extension for your mobile devices. You could, of course, also use it as a car speaker for making hands-free calls.
It charges over USB and there's enough juice for up to 10 hours of playback. Sound quality is said to be good as a result of a "specially designed acoustic chamber that lets you enjoy great sound with enhanced bass".
"The Logitech Mini Boombox rises to the occasion to bring an immersive sound experience wherever you go," said Azmat Ali, vice president of tablets and mobile for Logitech. "Now that mobile devices also act as cinemas, concert stages, game consoles, and conference centres, people want sound quality to match - and the Logitech Mini Boombox delivers."
Priced at a penny shy of £70, the Logitech Mini Boombox will hit shops towards the end of the month.
