Pandora rules out international service, for now

Pandora’s founder and chief strategy officer, Tim Westergren, has ruled out expanding Pandora internationally for the time amongst growing frustrations with the music industry.

"We have tried for years to try and broker licensing deals outside of the US, but it has been frustrating," admitted Westergren to the audience at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.

Explaining his frustrations, Westergren detailed how the company really wants to be global, but that it all hangs on the hopes that the music labels will eventually understand that services like Pandora can help artists sell more records rather than damage sales.

After a lengthy "fire side chat" it seems for the time being that he doesn’t see it happening.

Sadly for UK listeners, it looks like the Pandora service coming to Great Britain isn't likely to happen any time soon.
