While Sony's Personal 3D Viewer will be available in all Sony stores from the end of October/beginning of November, those especially eager to get their hands on a pair of the video goggles should get themselves down to London's Harrods superstore, which has been supplied with some early stock.
The Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer, to give it its full title, is a head mounted display unit with two OLED panels offering 1280 x 720 resolution for each eye, and a 45 degree viewing angle. Audio is supplied through two ear pieces, and the device promises a virtual 5.1 surround sound experience.
It has been designed to compliment either a Blu-ray player or PS3 games console, and, like similar devices from Vuzix, allows you to partake in a spot of 3D movie watching or gaming without bothering those around you. Pocket-lint had a go at IFA 2011 in September and Chris Hall commented that, "the design from the exterior is certainly a winner for us. Although the concept is a little crazy, it does look sort of cool."
There's no price listed at present, but we've were previously told that it would retail for around £480.
