Over in Berlin, at IFA, the Loewe booth caught Pocket-lint's wandering eye and not just because it looked like the Korova Milk Bar from A Clockwork Orange. It also appealed because it had lots of shiny new toys on show, none more shiny than the Loewe SoundVision, which has just been granted an official UK launch.
The SoundVision is a box of audio tricks that doesn't necessarily need your iPod or iPhone docked on top - it's got its own colour 7.5-inch multitouch display, complete with widgets such as internet radio.
You can, of course, make use of the 30-pin dock connector hidden behind the display. But you might find that you only use that for charging your iThing as there's also UpNp, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity available too. Oh, and there's a CD loader, if you're feeling retro.
Sound is taken care of by six built-in speakers, plus a subwoofer - all housed in the polished anodised aluminium chassis in either silver or black. Loewe is keen to point out that there are over 250 different finishes, thanks to the use of high-gloss side inlays.
The design is also hand-finished. Very posh.
Out in October, the Loewe SoundVision will cost £1,250.
