The Carphone Warehouse has announced the Apple iPhone will go on sale in its UK stores today at 6.00pm.

It looks at though the retailer isn't joining in with Apple and O2's cutesy play on numbers, with their official "on sale" time of 6.02pm.

Carphone Warehouse stores will be closing early on 9th November and will re-open at 6.00pm, when CEO Charles Dunstone will sell the UK's first iPhone handset at the Oxford Street store in London.

The retailer has hired extra staff (and apparently others are "volunteering" in order to help out) and security to help cope with demand and has trained iPhone experts in each store to advise shoppers on how to get the most from their new purchase.
