Toshiba Camileo Clip wants to replace the Flip

Toshiba has announced the Camileo Clip a pocket sized camcorder hoping to fill the gap in the market following the demise of the Flip.

Supposedly “Great for thrill seekers” according to Toshiba, the new small Camileo Clip sports a ‘candybar’ designed to fit into your pocket.

The name comes from an integrated clip that is built into the body of the camcorder lets users fasten it on to t-shirts and shorts for hands free filming, while a 5mm jack lets users mount the Camileo Clip to helmets and bicycle handlebars.

As for the camera itself you get a 5 megapixel sensor that shoots 1080p Full HD video. A 5x digital zoom takes users closer to their subject while maintaining 1080p resolution, and a 10x zoom shoots in 720p resolution if you need to go closer. There’s also an Electronic Image Stabiliser works to reduce visible camera shake. Everything can be viewed on the 1.5-inch LCD screen.

Available in a choice of Dark Blue, Hot Red, Bright Yellow, Snow White variants, the rubberised, and also splash proof casing, means it should withstand a few bumps and knocks along the way.

Footage is stored on a Micro SD card slot.

The Camileo Clip will be available in the UK during Q4 2011. No word on pricing as yet, but expect it to be around the £100.
