Facebook has launched complex new advertising solutions for the massively popular social networking site.

The new services for business include Facebook "Pages" which will allow businesses to create profile pages on the site to connect with consumers.

The second will be a system that supports viral marketing messages through Facebook, called "Social Ads", and in what may prove to be a controversial move, Facebook will reveal details of user's activities to businesses.

Promising that users will not see any more advertising than they currently do, personal information will not be sold on, and the site will remain "clutter-free" it will be fascinating to see if these solutions, no doubt of great interest to businesses, will prove a success in "social advertising" - said to be the holy grail of Web 2.0.

Users of the site interested to know how these changes will work, and how they might affect them, can read the detailed blog post on the site which gives lots more info.
