Pioneer to launch quartet of Blu-ray home cinema systems
Pioneer has announced no less than four new 5.1 Blu-ray home cinema systems to beef up your movie watching audio.
The two flagship 5.1 systems both sport an ultra-slim subwoofer capable of being tucked away underneath the sofa, whilst the more affordable pair come with a normal sized 'woofer.
Of the four, the two flagship BCS-717 and 414 sets consist of four tall speakers and a separate centre speaker as well as the slimmer subwoofer.
The less expensive BCS-313 and 212 make use of compact satellite speakers to churn out audio and have a much larger subwoofer speaker.
All four 5.1 systems have the same 180w output for each speaker and 200w subwoofer.
Things take a slightly Tron-like approach to design, the units shipping in high gloss acrylic with glowing blue volume dials. There is proper 1080p 3D Blu-ray playback as standard as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio to enjoy.
The two more expensive BCS-717 and 414 Pioneer units also come with an iPod/iPhone cradle and Wi-Fi connectivity for web online video streaming if that's your thing, although neither go as far as offering AirPlay support.
We are still waiting on Pioneer to get back to us with pricing and availability, but a quick search online and most of the units appear to be up for sale already at various shops in the UK, with the BCS-414 priced in at £449 and the 212 at £299.
Update: Pioneer has given us pricing on the other new models. The BCS-717 is £499 and the 313 £399.
