Asus: Apple tablet is real

Crave is claiming to have the inside scoop on the latest news about the Apple tablet.

Apparently whilst dining with suitably high-placed Asus execs, the bloggers got the skinny on Apple's fabled touch device: "We were told in a very hushed manner: 'Asus is helping Apple build a Tablet PC'."

Asus, an Apple contract manufacturer, is one of the companies responsible for building the iBooks, PowerBooks and MacBooks so could indeed be well placed to know details.

The story goes that is will not be based on any existing Asus designs, but there's no more info than that available, other than speculation.

Apple working on a tablet design and actually bringing one to market are of course very different things, but these rumours do seem to be gathering pace as we head towards Macworld...
