Orange offering "OMIS" simple push email for small businesses

From £4 a month

Orange has launched Orange Mail Internet Service (OMIS) with a free 3 month trial for existing business customers and free 1 month trial for new customers to the Orange network.

Saying the majority of existing mobile email solutions are too complicated and expensive for many small businesses and sole traders to set up, OMIS claims to enable customers to configure a push email service in just a couple of clicks of their handset.

The opt in service will work with Orange broadband and Orange.net. email accounts, GoogleMail, BTYahoo, Yahoo and all POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts.

The OMIS service can be accessed via a range of mobile phones including: the Orange SPV M3100, the Nokia E61 and N73 and Sony Ericsson W850i and K800i. Up to 40 devices will be supported by the end of 2008.

As part of the service, Orange will offer a two tier pricing structure of £4 a month for 6MB of data or £8 for up to 15MBs. As a guide, Orange says 1MB is approximately 500 emails of 2KB, or 20 emails with 35KB Word document attached, or one presentation of approximately 20 slides.
