Sky the big winner in Ofcom customer service report

Ofcom has published its findings from research to gauge levels of satisfaction within the communications industry and there's one clear winner - Sky.

BSkyB came top in terms of most satisfaction and least dissatisfaction in the pay TV market - 67 per cent and 12 per cent respectively, with 21 per cent neutral, compared to 62 per cent and 16 per cent for Virgin Media - and also came out on top of the landline service providers list, beating Virgin Media into second place (BT came third).

Sky also came second in the broadband services list, but was a long way off clear winner Orange. Orange however, didn't perform as well in its native environment - mobile services - coming behind winner T-Mobile and second place O2.

O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone all saw significant improvements in satisfaction levels since 2009 on at least half of the aspects measures.

The biggest loser from the report was undoubtedly TalkTalk who came last for both landline and broadband services.

Ofcom's consumer group director, Claudio Pollack, said: "The research shows that there can be considerable differences in consumers’ experiences of customer service. 

"By publishing this research we want to give consumers an insight into the standard of customer service being offered across the communications sector. The more information of this kind consumers have, the more effectively they can exercise their choice."
