Samsung Electronics has launched its first touch-screen, full internet-browsing mobile phone, it's thought in order to hit the Korean market before the launch of Apple's iPhone.

The HSDPA Windows Mobile 6.0 smartphone handset has a 2.8-inch LCD screen which doubles as a keypad with stylus entry.

The screen offers haptic touch functionality with a "hidden screen vibrator", but, despite its name, is not actually capable of recognising multiple touches.

Other features include the ability to play terrestrial DMB TV broadcasting.

"The smartphone market is getting bigger in other countries thanks to the development of the wireless internet infrastructure", Samsung said in a release.

"We hope that the Multi-Touch phone will stimulate the smartphone market in Korea as well."
