LG has announced that it has earned Europe's first TV Carbon Reduction Labels for two of its Cinema 3D TVs - the LG 47LW5500-ZE and the 47LW550T-ZE.
The certificate, awarded by the Carbon Trust, signifies that LG is being green and counting the carbon costs when it comes to dealing with the emissions from every stage of the TVs lifecycles - from production, to transportation, preparation, use and disposal.
In the UK, the carbon footprint across the TVs lifecycle's is 17g/CO2 per hour of use.
Harry Morrison, director of certification at the Carbon Trust, said: "We congratulate LG on calculating the carbon impact of this product across its lifecycle and achieving certification.
"LG can now communicate the carbon footprint of the product in a simple, robust and engaging way using the Carbon Reduction Label. The Carbon Reduction Label further highlights LG’s ongoing commitment to reduce the carbon emissions of its products."
The Carbon Trust recently announced that almost half of shoppers would be more likely to choose low carbon labelled goods and one in five would pay extra for tech carrying the certificate.
