Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg confirms he joined Google +

It looks like Facebook's very own Mark Zuckerberg was among the cream of the technology crop that was granted access to the new Google + service. Only a select few of technology high flyers (ahem Pocket-lint) are yet able to get their mits on the Google + setup.

Currently three suspect Mark Zuckerberg profiles exist on the Google + network. Two have been dismissed as fake, one however seems highly plausible.

A technology blogger , Robert Scoble, contacted Zuckerberg to try and confirm it was him. He then tweeted "Name drop moment. Zuckerberg just texted me back. Says "Why are people so surprised that I'd have a Google account?"

Looks like Zuckerberg has pretty much gone and confirmed it then...Circles on his profile also connect him with other Facebook employees. The grainy mobile phone style profile picture which has not been seen elsewhere also adds to the likelihood it is real.

Google + if it takes off could be a major threat to Facebook's social networking dominance. The company has long dominated the search engine market and has become the most popular smartphone operating system provider with Android. They have however never quite got things right on the social networking front.

Update:

According to website socialstatistics.com, Zuckerberg is ahead of Google's own Larry Page in terms of popularity on the service...

Did someone say ironic?

Facebook? Or is Zuckerberg doing the right thing moving to Google +??
