iTunes Festival London 2011 gets live streaming app with AirPlay support
Apple it to stream this year’s iTunes Festival held in London of more than 60 artists over 31 nights to iPhones, iPads, the iPod touch allowing more people to see the action on stage as it happens without having to brave the crowds in London.
In what could be a dramatic change to how we see concerts in the future, music fans who own an Apple TV will also be able to stream the concerts to their TV via Apple's AirPlay feature.
“Watch the performances live - or after the show for a limited time - on iTunes on your computer, or on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the app,” says Apple promoting the new app.
The festival starts on 1 July (that’s Friday) with Paul Simon with other headliners include Foo Fighters, Coldplay, ADELE, Linkin Park, and more performing over the next month.
Music fans that download the official app will be able to explore the lineup in more detail and watch the shows LIVE or on demand for a limited period from wherever you are in the world.
You can even invite your friends to watch on the big screen with AirPlay support for streaming the gigs to your Apple TV (compatible only with second-generation Apple TV; requires iOS 4.3 or later) says Apple.
The app is free and available in the app store now.
