CoPilot Live have gone and got all posh with a premium update to its much loved smartphone navigation app.
The new version, based on ALK's CoPilot 9 platform, incorporates a revamped UI, drag routing, ActiveTraffic and social journey sharing between friends. Useful particularly if multiple groups are travelling to the same destination, say friends going to a festival for example.
You are given a choice of three different routes when navigating, meaning it is possible to switch things up if they are getting boring, or dodge traffic at certain times of day. You can also fine tune your trip by dragging a route to the individual street you wish to navigate via.
In-app Facebook and Twitter updates mean you can share all your journey secrets with social media. There is also an integrated Wikipedia and Bing local search to give you information on destinations. Offline maps do away with reception problems as well being high quality Navteq offerings for maximum detail.
CoPilot are awaiting approval from Apple to send the app live in the App Store, but it is available now on Android both for tablets and phones, priced at £14.99 for UK and Ireland maps, the first seven days from launch. The end of the 50 per cent price cut will then see the same app jump to £29.99, costing £59.99 for European mapping. Active Traffic subscriptions are £9.99 per year.
