Carphone Warehouse, the official retailer partner for the Apple iPhone in the UK, has said it could sell up to 10,000 iPhones on "iDay".

The phone is due to launch on 9th November, when it will go on sale from 6pm with stores opening for four hours extra in order to "meet customer demand".

Darren Gardner, head of wireless UK at Carphone Warehouse, said with around 800 stores across the country, Carphone could hope to sell up to 10,000 in the first day.

"We will hope to represent a big share of what is sold", he told reporters on Thursday.
