Byte-dock Thunderbolts in MacBook docking station
Love your MacBook on the go, but wish you had a desktop Apple machine for your office? Can't afford the £999+ for an iMac?
Then Techne Industries may have just the device up its sleeve for you - its Byte-dock MacBook docking station.
Similar to previous docking stations that we've seen for both Windows and Mac flavoured notebooks, the Byte-dock effort gives you easy access to all the ports that you need - external keyboard, monitor, mouse, printer, USB, Firewire, Ethernet and so on, but also offers up Thunderbolt technology as well for quick transfers.
Production engineer Paul Hackett said: “After eight months developing the Byte-dock, I believe the design is the most user-friendly and effective docking system currently available to Macbook Pro owners to date. Being able to offer the Thunderbolt functionality has been one of the highlights of the development.”
It's powered by your MacBook and works with all Pro models from 2010 onwards.
It costs £149.99 and Techne will even throw in a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable. Availability is Q3 2011, but you can pre-order now.
