Heineken has unleashed "a groundbreaking dual screen" iPhone and Facebook app - that lets you play a brilliant Champions League based football game live, whilst the action unfolds.

And to celebrate it is giving Pocket-lint readers the chance to join in - and possibly even win a couple of Champions League tickets.

To take part, simply visit http://apps.facebook.com/heinekenstarplayer/?l+pnoma6kqko and join the league called POCKET-LINT. The league code is pnoma6kqko.

You can also sign up from within the iOS app itself, which is available in the App Store now.

The first 24 readers to sign up will play to win tickets to any UK UEFA Champions League group stage match next season. (Spurs fans can choose to go and watch Arsenal or Chelsea if they don't want to travel too far).

The league began last week for the 1st leg of the El Clásico match but continues tonight (3 May) for the 2nd leg and will carry on for two more matches - the Manchester United semi-final 2nd-leg and the final on 28 May.

Don't worry if you didn't sign up last week, or haven't got time to watch all the other matches - the player with the highest score from one of the four possible matches (27 April, 3 May, 4 May, and 28 May) will take the prize, it's not an aggregate figure.

As for the app itself, it's great fun. Pocket-lint was invited along for a trial which took place during the Schalke versus Manchester United match and we have to admit that it all got very competitive.

Basically, you score points by predicting the outcomes of various events such as corners and free-kicks. You've also got eight goal predictions, whereby you'd score points if a goal is scored within 30 seconds (tip: the earlier you predict the more points you get - we only scored 200 out of a possible 2000 for tapping just as Ryan Giggs took his shot).

There's also some trivia questions thrown in for bonus points and some Who Wants to Be a Millionaire style lifelines.

It's all operated by a human (we imagine sat in a cold fridge at the Heineken factory), so it's spot on for time and you can adjust your app if your TV transmission is a little out.

Floris Cobelens, global head of digital at Heineken, said: "StarPlayer will really change the way in which football fans interact with the UEFA Champions League, creating a more social experience around watching and enjoying the matches.

"For Heineken to be able to bring the excitement and competition of these premium matches to the actual fingertips of the fans through the cutting edge ‘dual screen’ technology of Star Player really showcases our
commitment to providing extraordinary innovative and engaging experiences for fans."
