Calm down fanboys, the image above isn't genuine but a mock up from ex-Engadgeter Joshua Topolsky over at This is My Next.
So, why are we covering it? Well, for a couple of reasons really.
Firstly, because it looks so damn gorgeous and secondly, and most importantly, because it could prove more accurate than you might think as it's based on an inside source's sketch, with the source describing the next-gen iPhone's look as “more like the iPod touch than the iPhone 4” with a “teardrop” disposition.
It seems to tie in with earlier rumours, regarding a super thin bezel - with extra screen real estate. Although those expecting the home button to be dropped may be surprised. Not only is it present - but much bigger. All in aid of a newly introduced gesture area.
Other interesting titbits include the possibility of an NFC swipe area and a 3.7-inch screen.
Obviously, take the above with a large pinch of salt - but don't say we didn't warn you if Topolsky proves to be on the money come September.
