Skypephone from 3 to be launched on Monday

3 Mobile will launch the recently much-rumoured "Skypephone" on Monday and Pocket-lint will be there to bring you all the news.

The official invite states: "Over the past four years, Skype and 3 have changed the way people communicate on the internet and on mobile. This event marks a radical step forward in operator thinking and will see the announcement of mobile internet calls for the mass market".

The new device will let users call over the Skype VoIP network just like they would from their set-up at home, so will be able to ring other Skype users for free.

Some details are emerging about the exciting new handset, such as a 2-megapixel camera with video capture, photo editing functionality, MP3 player and in-built equalizer.

The 3 Skypephone will be available in a choice of three colours and will be on both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go tariffs in time for Christmas.
