Sony Ericsson Neo release date now July in UK
Sony Ericsson has confirmed that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, first announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February won’t be available in the UK until July because of delays.
"As Sony Ericsson continues to assess the impact of the situation in Japan on its business, we have communicated to our operator customers and distributors that some volume of Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo phones has been affected. Xperia neo has already been introduced to the marketplace in limited quantities. However, due to supply chain disruptions resulting from the situation in Japan, we have shifted the timing of Xperia neo’s broader launch and it is now planned for early Q3," told Pocket-lint.
The phone was expected to be landing in the UK in mid April, however production has been affected by the Japanese earthquake.
“We recently reported that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo was due to arrive on the 19th April,” reports UK online retailer Clove. “We published this information on good faith, but since this post, there has been discussion of delays and we have now had official confirmation from Sony Ericsson that the Neo will not be launched until July in the UK market.”
According to the store, the disruption to the supply chain as a result of the disaster in Japan and while Sony Ericsson are working to find alternative supply solutions “July is the earliest release date that Sony Ericsson wish to commit too.”
The Japanese earthquake is also to blame for the lack of Xperia Play and Xperia Arc models on the market at the moment as well says Clove.
